Life is more than a spectator sport for teens at the Y. The emphasis is on inclusion. The Y shapes teen values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility and helps teens learn that fun and service to others go hand in hand.

Training
We seek to provide a balance of activities that encourage physical and intellectual development, positive social and emotional attitudes and the development of each child's creative potential.

Sports
At the YMCA, everyone gets into the game. Continue to enjoy your favorite sports or develop interests and skills in new games and sports. Baseball Play ball at the YMCA. Instruction and leagues for many ages and ability levels. Join a team with your interests and skill levels.

Training Activities

Adventure Programs
Learn to work in interdependent teams, and overcome self-doubts. Adventure programs at the Y develop communication and leadership skills of each participant while encouraging everyone to accept new challenges.

Black Achievers
Build a strong foundation for careers, education, leadership, and scholarship. African American professionals mentor African American teens, demonstrating that success and character values complement one another.

CIT Camp (Ages 15-17)
For the older teen looking for an experience in childcare, under the supervision of qualified staff. Must complete an application. CIT & parent MUST be interviewed. If chosen for the program there is no fee.

YMCA Lifeguard Training
Includes aquatic safety, lifeguard roles and responsibilities and water rescues. Renew your current certification to get a Great Summer Job! Must be age of 16 or above, an advanced swimmer and in good physical condition.

Model United Nations
Meet weekly as representatives of countries around the world, writing resolutions, debating, researching what is best for that country; the program includes a weekend with teens from other states.

Teen Leaders
Teen Leaders is a free program which provides fun, but meaningful experiences for teens to get together and contribute to their community.

Youth in Government
Gain the ability to shape the future. Hands-on experience in governance prepares teens to be engaged in the responsibilities and respect freedom.


Sports Activities

Basketball
Take pleasure in this game invented at the Y and the fellowship of your teammates.

Cheerleading
Learn the cheers, stunts, and techniques. For the enthusiastic and energetic, cheerleading at the YMCA is also inclusive and instructive.

Fencing
Called 'chess with muscles,' fencing combines footwork, agility, speed, skill and strategy. Although scoring is now electronic, fencing is among the oldest sports still included in the Olympics.

Field Hockey

Learn this sport that combines the speed of soccer with the stick skills of lacrosse. Open to both girls and boys.

Flag Football

Enjoy the teamwork. Boys and girls learn the plays, and participate in an inclusive sport that focuses on fun and safety.

Gymnastics
Enjoy the personal achievements and fun of gymnastics. Develop coordination and control of your body, and expand your creativity and confidence in progressive skill level gymnastics classes.

Handball

Play this fast, exciting sport, which offers the speed of racquetball or squash without requiring the racquets.

Martial Arts/Karate
Build strength and endurance in the discipline and skill of karate. Self-defense with an emphasis on nonviolence is the foundation for karate for all ages.

Racquetball
Enjoy fun and easy to learn racquetball. Fast-paced and fast growing, this game offers aerobic and anaerobic exercise.

Roller Hockey
Enjoy the speed and skills of hockey in a safe and supervised environment.

Soccer

Learn to play or improve your skills in the most popular sport worldwide.

Squash
Play the number 1 racquet game in the world. Considered one of the healthiest sports, squash provides a power-packed cardio-respiratory workout.

T-Ball

Instructional t-ball leagues for boys and girls, ages 4-7, are designed to introduce to each player the great game of baseball in a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Volleyball
Learn to bump, set, and serve. Invented at the Y, this sport is second only to soccer in popularity around the world.
